The album has 8 songs including 6 unreleased ones plus Irish Whiskey and Nevah, already released as singles in 2020/21. The album was recorded during the pandemic and it shows in the songs, which are more "dark" than the typical sound of Diplomatics. The recordings were made at "Il Baito", a recording studio near the mountains with Elia Guglielmi and the final mix / master was made by Maurizio Baggio at the "La Distilleria" studio in Bassano del Grappa.
The Baito, immersed in the woods and without time constraints, allowed Diplomatics to study new sounds and experiment with different compositional solutions. Listening to bands such as Gang of Four, Talking Heads, Wire, Clash, Liquid Liquid also influenced the writing of the album, especially the song "Jungle" which will also be presented with a new video clip. In “Jungle” percussions played by Leonardo Ziche are inspired by the Brazilian samba and the dissonant saxophone played by Edoardo Brunello (Ska-J) defines the Wave style of the song. The help of various musicians therefore created the right amount of experimentation desired by the band.
Diplomatics started with clear ideas about the album's goals even though the final form was spontaneously reached during the recordings. The band looked for an evolution of the songs in a Wave and Punk-Funk key but without losing their identity; this brought the sound closer to current bands like Amyl & the Sniffers, Parquet Courts, Viagra Boys. “7 notes”, “Go high” and “You are nothing” are the most representative songs in this sense, as well as the already released single “Nevah”.
The darker evolution was deliberately compensated by Diplomatics with 3 more soul/funk songs: "Back to you", "Dancing all alone" and "Irish Whiskey" in which the influence of historical bands such as the Rolling Stones, The Who, Stone Roses is stronger.
The musical scheme adopted by the Diplomatics highlighted the lyrics and vocal lines, sung and spoken-style inspired by Lou Reed. The lyrics deal with issues such as alienation, the desire to go away, loneliness, the hypocrisy of capitalist society, but also contents such as parties and the joy of going on tour. This bipolarity in the lyrics is reflected in the final style assumed by the album that associates Diplomatics with typical New-Wave bands.
The identity of the band is made with this more mature and defined album, still keeping their signature powerful sound.
